Dear Parent / Carer
As you may be aware the Government has asked schools to test students for Coronavirus using Lateral Flow Tests on their return to school in September. Students will need to undertake one test in the Academy before returning to classrooms and then a second test 3-5 days later, they will then be issued with home testing kits to be carried out twice a week.
The plan for testing each year group is as follows, all testing will take place in the Gym when students are only attending for testing, which is the case for Test 1, they need to arrive to school through the doors by PE, using the entrance on Bilton Grove to gain access to the grounds:
*Parent/carer arrive with students and complete consent form before testing
Those taking the test will be supervised by trained staff and volunteers. The lateral flow tests are quick and easy to undertake, using just a swab of the nose. Results (which take around half an hour from testing) will be shared directly with the individual participant where positive. Where participants are under 16, parents or legal guardians will also be informed.
In order for us to do this, which we want to do to keep the community safe, we need you to provide your agreement that we can test your child. If you have previously completed a consent form you do not need to complete another. The consent form also asks you to confirm you have read the following privacy notice: Covid 19 – Privacy Notice
The form for you to complete is here: Click here to give your consent for your son/daughter to be tested
If you do not have access to complete this form online you can call the Academy (01482) 781912 and ask to be put through to Student Services who will complete the form with you over the telephone.
The deadline for completion of this is Friday 23rd July at 09:00 am
Testing students will allow everyone the peace of mind that is needed as all students return to school. Up to one third of people who have coronavirus are asymptomatic. By testing we will help to reduce the spread in school and college settings through asymptomatic transmission. I am therefore strongly encouraging those returning to the academy to be tested.
We are working on plans for bringing students back into school and we will communicate with you again over the next few days.
Take care, you remain in our prayers.
